"Where the Diamond Always Shines"

Artists Bio

jonny ortenzo Born Edward Smith III, he grew up around music. Listening to artist such as Bootsy Collins, Parliament Funkadelics and the Temptations. But to pass time in class him and his friends would write rhymes back and forth dissing each other. Gradually he began writing whether he was dissing or not. As he got older sports took up the majority of his time. Forcing him to slow down on writing, but constantly listening to music by recording songs off the radio. Instead of writing songs he turned to poetry and art to express him self more freely.

It wasn’t until his senior year in high school he started writing again. He and Jermaine Thornton aka Chi Money, a childhood friend would take instrumentals and record freestyles on the tape recorder. His new hobby was creating and recording songs. Again because of sports his time with practice and games became more important music fell by the waist side. After high school he lived with his baby mama on “Tha Hill” in E-town, Kentucky. A chance run in with an old friend June Bug aka Dye/Cry, who recorded his own music. This chance encounter would ignite his interest in music again. He would show Edward how to create beats and encouraged him to be more creative with his music.

Wanting to be more creative Edward wanted to be as unique as his favorite artists were, which at the time included OutKast and the Clipse. Growing up in three different states surely gives him the uniqueness he wants. Taking on the moniker of EddI Kane from the motion picture “The Five Heartbeats”. With sounds of the South, Midwest and East Coast he hopes to blend those with his words and just make good music. Coming from an area where there aren’t many mainstream artists. He wants to be that face, the ambassador of good music from Kentucky.
